Ukiyo-e Collection
Ukiyo-e direct translation is “pictures of the floating world” refers to a genre of Japanese art that thrived from the 17th through to 19th century aimed to capture a slice of everyday Japanese life however during the 19th century, artist such as Utagawa Hiroshige (The Great Wave) brought the art of Ukiyo-e full circle, back to flora, fauna, and landscape views often with a seasonal theme.
The philosophy that underpins the Ukiyo-e genre, striking a balance between Japanese natural landscape and culture, serves as the inspiration for our collection and its diverse designs.
